Ink sprays by Dylusions for Ranger
I drew this figure a while ago, spent ages colouring her in and then decided I didn't like her. She looked too 'cute', so I put her in with a pile of 'stuff' on my desk and forgot about her. But then when I was fiddling about I found her again, and tried her against this very grungy inky background and I thought she looked ok!
I like to mop up any spare ink left on stencils etc in my journal - a trick I learned from Dina Wakley and Dyan Reaveley. It ends up looking something like this and makes for a great background:
I added a few little extras to the background, but mostly I left it as it was, and even left some white space *gasp*! I'm not usually very good at leaving white space ;-)
I used Basic Backgrounds stamp by Dylusions on the heart and dress, and then scribbled over it with my new favourite - liquid pearls.
Now, I can't actually decide if this page is finished or not. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.
I found a scrap of fabric that I coloured with Dylusions inks - can't decide whether to add it or not. What do you think?
If you fancy doing a bit of drawing in your art journal come and take a drawing class with me! See the details *here*.
Byee for now ....
oh I love it Kate, lovin the white space and your figures are lush, cant believe you discarded this poor lady and left her to languish in a dusty corner, tut tut LOL x
ReplyDeleteI think she is charming. Wish I could draw like that.
ReplyDeleteThat darn white space is soooo hard to leave sitting there but it looks good when you do!!!! And I like the fabric piece:)
ReplyDeleteKnow of any (Really, really) cheap flights from Oz? I'd be there in a Jiffy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kate ♥
ReplyDeleteI think she's been waiting for just this moment when she gets all the glory. She's wonderful. The heart is effective too, and the fabric just pics up the colour of the heart too, I think you should keep it. Michelle x
ReplyDeleteShe went from "cute" to WOW!
ReplyDeleteGreat page Kate and I love your little "lady" as Christy Thomlinson would say "she's a cutie".Love your scrap of fabric too.xx
ReplyDeleteI think she is wonderful. Can't believe you thought she was too cute. She is charming. I'm not personally crazy about the fabric but she is your creation so do what pleases you. Diane M
ReplyDeleteKate, forgot to tell you, I now have access to Dylusion products and I'm spending way too much money. Have a ball though. I use the Basics alot. They are so versatile. Diane M
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreetz Patricia
I love this, Kate and I know how you feel about the white space, cos I'm the same, but it looks so good! I'm also pretty sure that if you start journalling, there won't be a lot of it left, unless you choose to highlight it by leaving it blank. Great colours and lovely colouring on the angel x
ReplyDeleteShe reminds me of an Angel; missing her wings so she's sad and wondering how she could get them back again! Fab background and I must say I quite like the material along the bottom.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant page and she looks good on this background Kate. And...... you actually left white space too !! lol
ReplyDeleteKate this is so stunning. The lady in it is marvelous. Beautiful details and colors. Indeed I I wish I could draw and paint like you.
ReplyDeleteWarm greet

Hiya Kate.
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely, I love the way you have drawn her aswell. Art was the only O level i got, but I don't do drawing anywhere near as much as I used to, must get back into it. Angie and I have booked the Graphic 45 class with Dy in June, but we want to come and do a class with you later in the year.
I like this page just the way it is, and love the bit of white space, it looks great.

ReplyDeleteI like the white space. It gives they eye a place to "rest." Love your lady, she's unusually beautiful.
Wonderful, Kate!
ReplyDeletebeautiful page kate!
ReplyDeleteBetter late than never with my April posting, but you look as if you are keeping busy - lovely use of different techniques.
ReplyDeleteOh quite different from some of your pages - and I like the white space even if I am scared of it. When undecided about an element I usually think that if you're hesitating you already know the answer - if it was right it would already be on there!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing !!! I love it. The figure it's so cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this Art
Bye

Hi Kate. I have several favourite mediums! I love acrylic paints and Dylusions ink sprays, but for colouring in images I love Distress inks by Ranger. Thanks for asking!
