Lots of fun at AFTH

Last Sunday I treated myself to a day art journaling at Art From the Heart, with Dyan. I haven't had anywhere near enough time for this sort of thing recently, so it was a real treat, and I have to say it was also a real laugh. I worked in My A4 Moleskine and used Dyan's Downloads (fabulously bright and colourful!) to create this journal page. This is how it looked when I left on Sunday, before adding the wording when I got home. I used a few Nancy Baumiller techniques when journaling.

I wasn't sure what I was going to journal about on this page but then I had one of those heart-stopping moments on Monday when, just momentarily, I thought something very serious had happened to my son. When my daughter came rushing in screaming that he had hurt himself, was lying on the floor not breathing and couldn't move, I  suddenly found I could sprint like Linford Christy. Turns out he had fallen off a 6 foot wall. flat on his back and winded himself. He was ok, just a bit shaken, but he gave us all a fright.

I'd really like to say that he has learned a lesson and won't climb walls again......hmmmmmm.....

It seemed to fit in with the words I had already added on the bird, because in England we think everything can be solved with a nice cup of tea :-)

Bye for now.........

  1. Fantastic page - Dy's images are so cool...What a fright you must have got - isn't it amazing the strength/speed/clarity of mind you can have in a moment of crisis (especially when it involves your kids)?!? Keep meaning to say that I am completely in love with your handwriting - you should create your own font...you'd make a fortune!! I'm at AFTH this weekend, can't wait...

p.s. The tea thing is TOTALLY true in Scotland too...gotta be Ringtons for me though!! xx

  2. But tis' true everything can be solved with a cup of tea. Tea for the nerves and my workshops for the soul.!! It was lovely to see you and yes you must make time to come more often, laughter is the best medicine even if, unfortunately, it is not good for bladder control, lmao.. Your page turned out fabby xxx

  12. I'm so glad your son is okay, I can't even imagine how worried you were in that moment.

I adore this journaling page. I just love this style, I wish I could do a journal page like this. I guess I need to practice and work at it. But probably the best thing I could do is to actually start a journal right? Your work fasinates me, inspires me and as Terri said above, I can barely pull myself away from your blog. So much to look at. Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us.

  13. So glad you son is ok, you must have been terrified for a few seconds, I think we all know that feeling. Well, what can I say about this journal pager, wow, wow, wow. You are so, so talented, I just don't know how you do it, wish I'd got 10% of your talent, I would be happy. You give us so much inspiration. xx

  14. Oh the page is divine - love it - and making time to make such gorgeous creations is an absolute must! The incident you documented was obviously a heart stopping moment but I'm glad he's OK - it must be boys in general - mine always swears he'll never do it again but then he does! Fingers crossed he'll have learnt his lesson when it comes to 6 foot walls! I'm also off for a little bit of Dyan therapy this weekend - a whole weekend of art journaling - bliss!

  15. Wonderful to see the finished page love the way you have journaled on it. When I at first saw your journalling I thought Joseph had fallen from the climbing wall on Sunday but of course they are harnessed, so pleased he is fine, they do give you a shock though and yes a cuppa solves most things.
    Beautiful neat work.
