Here's my latest journal page, entitled 'a work in progress'. I have been pondering on this for a while.....the fact that when I left school / college etc I thought the learning was over. Oh how naive! Of course the learning never stops, in fact the learning curve just gets steeper :-) In adult life you have to learn how to do your job and then keep learning how to do your job as more and more new things get passed your way. You learn how to be a mother and raise your family which is actually much harder than you ever thought it could be and way harder than it looks! And then there's all the things that you learn how to do just because you want to, like painting and journaling and mixed media art!
Anyway this is how the page came together. I added some old text to the page and thenI painted colours randomly to create the background. I painted a lighter stripe across the bottom to allow me to add some text. (yeeuuw, it looks really messy at this stage - this is usually when I want to throw it in the bin)
I added a few circles with bottle lids of various sizes and a Tim Holtz stamp:
I stamped my image (Invoke Arts) onto to old paper, cut it into two and added it either side of the page with a couple of angel wings and a mouth (Itkuppili) for good measure, and a touch of charcoal around the images. The text is a rub-on:
Today is the 30th January. That means that tomorrow I really MUST paint the background to my February calendar page....... And if you're taking part in the calendar challenge don't forget to blog your January page tomorrow so we can all take a peek :-)
