Well, here it is. My completed page for January YAY! One down only eleven to go! Seriously though, I have really enjoyed filling this in. There is something really cathartic about sitting down at the end of a stressful, chaotic day and doodling it all down on paper. And when the month is done it is so nice to look back on....I just want to stroke the page LOL!
Here is my page for February but I'm trying something a little different. The background is very bright (even by my standards) so I've chosen fairly neutral paper to add to the top. I also made the most of February only having 28 days and the extra space that that created on the page and made the squares bigger - rectangles measuring 1 1/2" x 2". I used stamps by Tim Holtz and Crafty Individuals, the Rook (crow?) is from Paperstreet on Etsy.
I seem to have a bit of a birdie theme going on in my calendar:
My 9 year old daughter has decided to join us on the challenge. I have to confess I didn't think she would keep it up but here it is, so it's her turn to say 'I told you so'!
And this is her page for February. I think her choice of dark colours for the background sums up how she feels about the winter months :-)
Don't forget to post your completed calendar page for January on your blog for all to see and admire. All blogs can be accessed on my original challenge post here. The Flickr group is filling up with beautiful photos of challenge calendars so do take a look here and don't forget to post your pics there too; it's really good to see the photos all in one place. Hope you have all had lots of fun creating your calendars and I'm looking forward to seeing them as I go blog hopping throughout the week.
I was given this blog award today by one of our calendar creators Sonja. Thanks for the award Sonja, I LOVE blog awards :-) I have had this one before quite a while ago so I don't think I can hand it on again this time. Do have a look at Sonja's blog - she has already blogged her finished January page and it's looking good :-)
And last but definitely not least.... I recently received this beautiful artwork from my very good bloggy friend Diana, from Australia. Diana was my first arty cyber - friend and my first international ATC swap partner and we've been in regular contact ever since. The photo doesn't really do this justice, it's absolutely beautiful and shimmery IRL. Have a look at Diana's blog here for more fabulous inspirational art and also to see her beautiful calendar page for February.
Phew, that's me done. Byeeeeeeeeeee

Ohhhh your calender looks divine!! And February... I just LOVE that little birdie's hat! I posted an update on my blog (thank you for your comment, it was just the nudge I needed to get moving on January LOL). Thank you so much for posting this challenge, I've really been enjoying it. I hope to have my completed January pages posted soon.
ReplyDeleteI just adore your artwork. Thank you for visiting my blog and for your very kind comments by the way. Your calendar project is off the charts awesome. It's just beautiful!! You will definitely have to submit that to one of the mags so it can get published and it will get published no question. Just beautiful, inspiring work you do.
ReplyDeleteHi Kate
ReplyDeleteJanuary page now posted and a preview of February just to prove I am doing it. Technology is what slows things down for me.
Wish I was as free with my writing as your daughter on her fab page. When is it we become all guarded and self conscious? Far too long ago to remember!!!
And... I've managed to set myself up in Flikr and add it to the group pictures. Maybe I'll be quicker next month?
ReplyDeletei love these journal diaries i wish i had made one, your january page looks fab all filled in now, looking forward to see februarys completed xxx
