Just playing ...

Ink sprays, stamps, stencils all by Dylusions
Large tag by Ranger (27x14)

Much as I love the summer holidays and having everyone at home for a few weeks, time to do something for yourself is a bit of a rarity! This summer not only have I had the children at home, but also a variety of builders, electricians, plumbers, plasterers etc etc (see previous post). But yesterday I managed to grab a couple of hours to myself in the craft room, and it was wonderful! I had to dig my way in as the contents of the bathroom and the airing cupboard have been placed in every nook and cranny of the house while the building work continues.

After a time away from my craft supplies I felt a little out of practice. You know what they say, creativity breeds creativity so after a time off it can take a while to get going again but I persevered and had a lovely time playing with my new (and old) Dylusions.

I made the background using a combination of blues and the Dotted Flowers stencil ( my favourite stencil!), as well as touches of the Basic Background stamps, stamped in Ranger Archival ink (I always stamp in Archival). I'm loving the new skeleton heads on the Day of the Heads set, and they combine brilliantly with some of the older sets. I also used the barbed wire and spider web stamps in the background.

I added the head to a body from Doolally Doris, with wings from Ruby Rainbow, added the Dandelion clocks from Bits of this, a crow from Birds on a wire, and finally bunting from Bags of Bunting.

All of my images were coloured with Ranger Distress Inks, and then I couldn't resist adding a bit of Stickles and Liquid Pearls. You can see the glitter in these pics:

And just a few more things to share with you today ..... While I was away on family hols I still kept up with smashing in my Smash book. I can get a little obsessive about collecting things, but on the positive side it means the car does not have a collection of old parking tickets lying around because they are all in my book!

I love taking pics on the go with my Fuji mini Instax camera, and a Smash Book is the perfect place to keep them (What else are you going to do with them?!)

I met up my old collage buddy Liz who I haven't seen for 11 years. She lives in the South West and it took us 10 1/2 hours to get there which explains why I don't see her very often, but I was glad to capture the moment with my camera:

And finally a quick bathroom update. THE SHOWER IS IN! Can't use it yet though as the shower screen hasn't been fitted but it now feels like we are getting there! Woop woop!

Have a great weekend, and for those of you in the UK enjoy the bank holiday! We 're off to the seaside today so I can collect even more 'useful' stuff .... shells, fossils, sea glass ...... :-)

Byee for now......

  4. Kate, I'm curious. When I spray with Dylusions, and then stamp over, I can't get true colors on the images. Did you stamp the images on a separate piece of paper, cut them out, and paste them? If not, what is your secret?

    1. Hi Jan, Yes, I stamped my images onto paper, coloured them with Distress inks and then added them to the tag. Dylusions react to water, so if you try and colour anything over the top of a Dylusions background I think it will activate the ink and then you won't get true colours. I like to cut and colour images and then play with them for a while before I add them to my background too. Kate x

Bet your friend was thrilled to see you again.
    Shower is looking good!
You need more time out to create if this is what happens.
