Journal and Gelli

This last few weeks, as we head towards the end of the summer term at school, has been manically busy and I have been feeling a little art-starved. To get out of a creative slump I sometimes find i just need to play, with lots of paint and layers, and here you can see the result. It's not finished and I have no idea where I'm going with it!

There's a LOT of layers in this, it can truly be described as mixed-media! I used my *fave* paints - Talens Amsterdam acrylics, which I'm very happy to say are now available at Art from the Heart. (I'll be doing a workshop using these paints soon - details here)

I had a quick play with my gelli plate along the way and made these prints on some deli paper which I then used as collage on my journal background. I used my fingers rather than a brayer to spread the paint as I love the grungy look this creates :-)

Hoping for some more play-time this summer ... Byeee for now ...

    1. Its the semi-translucent waxed paper that they wrap food in at the Deli cpunter. Great for painting on! I got hold of mine on e-bay - sometimes it's called Kraft Paper.

  5. Kate, this is so yummy! I love the rich layering of media, and the finger painting on the plate gives a wonderful effect. I like the way the deli paper takes the paint - it looks quite vibrant.
