Classes!

I'll be taking a short break from teaching over the summer to spend some quality time with my family over the school holidays, but I'll be back with a vengeance towards the end of August! Here are some details of my up-and-coming classes ... hope to see some of you there! Don't forget you can check out details of all my classes on my teaching page here.

A weekend of art journal inspirationsSat 28th & Sun 29th Sept
Art from the Heart
(Almost full!)

More colourful and vibrant journal pages with Kate Crane including hints, tips and ideas for making your journal pages pop! Over the course of the weekend Kate will demonstrate some techniques for creating colourful and vibrant backgrounds using stencils, rubber stamps, ‘junk’, and more. We’ll make lots of lovely layers, and build them to create luscious mixed-media backgrounds. Kate will encourage you to follow your instincts and discover your own style. There will be hints and tips for how, where and what to write on the page with plenty of journal prompts.  Art journaling is all about the journey and the process – it’s time to let your creativity to flow!
Equipment needed: Journal (A4 or A5), or a sketchbook

Beautiful Junk!

Weds 28th August

Create your very own junk journal and make something beautiful from recycled materials. Kate will show you how to piece together your junk, creating interesting pages, tags and pockets, before binding with the bind-it-all and sticky back canvas to create a journal which is all yours! We’ll use gesso to disguise the ‘junk’, and then we’ll make a start on some beautiful backgrounds. Start collecting now: Cereal boxes, lightweight cardboard packaging, corrugated cardboard, pretty clothing tags, business envelopes … and anything else you fancy!
Optional: bring A4 scans/prints of your own journal backgrounds to create new pages.

Step into the wonderful world of 3-D art, and sculpt your very own art doll using the gorgeously light and ever-so-easy to use, Paper Clay. Kate will show you how to shape the clay, and add extra character with fabric, buttons and vintage lace. Add some character with acrylic paints and, and then add a cracked porcelain-look finish. You can go as far as your imagination will carry you with this project!

Art Journaling with Amsterdam Paint

‘Amsterdam Standard Series offers everything an acrylic painter needs. An excellent-quality acrylic paint and an enormous range of colours.’
A chance to play and create in your art journal with the *new* Talens Amsterdam range of acrylic paints, as used by Kate and Dina Wakley! These paints come in a huge range of colours, and are easy to use and apply, and allow you to create beautiful multi layered backgrounds with ease.
