It's been a while ....

Images by Crowabout Studio B

Yes, it's been a while since I had a play in my art journal. Half term came along which meant the children were at home (always a distraction!), and then I was busy at work, and various other things ... But sometimes when I don't get chance to create for a while I get out of my groove and don't find it easy to find my way back in. Do you know what I mean? So today, I had a little time ... and I mean just a little time ... so I made myself get the paints out and just have a play, get back into the swing of things again. It's a bit like riding a bike really. It doesn't matter how long it has been since you've been on a bike, you never forget how to pedal ;-)

So, this is another page in my junk journal, it's filling up nicely now. I'm kind of stuck in this colour combo at the moment, but it will pass in time and I'll move onto my next colour obsession.

I came across the quote in a vintage text book, and it really made me smile. We sing this in assembly at school. If you can't read it above it says:

Who put the colours in the rainbow?
Who put the salt into the sea?
Who put the cold into the snowflake?
Who made you and me?
Who put the hump onto the camel?
Who put the neck on the giraffe?
God made all of these.

Of course, my favourite line is 'who put the colours in the rainbow?'.

The house image is made from a sheet by CrowaboutStudioB, but I messed about with them a bit so they aren't exactly as they were on the collage sheet. But that's half the fun - taking something but making it yours.

Byee for now!

  2. The junk journal page is very cool, love the house and the colours. I know what you mean about the groove. I've been jumping in and out of 3 grooves lately, photography, painting and crafting. It's much harder to get back into the crafting groove. I'm looking forward to your doodling class. :) See ya soon. Michelle x

  13. Loving your colour combos at the moment. I get stuck in set colours for a while too. Eventually I move on to the next thing. Even though you change colours, your style still stands out as yours. I love that you altered the house to make it more you and less recognizable as it's original print. I've been doing that with paint over scrapbook paper lately - you can barely tell what it was originally. I kinda like that :)

  14. It's been a while for me too, both the visiting as the creating that is... I should 'force myself' too and go into the studio right now instead of surfing around on the web. I might just do that NOW! Enjoy your day!

  16. Love it, Kate. I am off for the summer. My goal is to do something creative each day. What that may entail is unknown but I did manage to watercolor today so I am on the right path.
