Journal play ...

Hmmmm, life has been a little ... hectic ... recently. December gets me every year! I try to plan ahead, and get on top of the game but things spiral our of control and eat me up ( and I KNOW that you know exactly what I am talking about!)

This journal page was inspired by the fabulous Frolic class I recently took on-line with Mindy Lacefield. When I say journal page, I don't actually mean a journal page, and it's not in a journal either. I recycled a cardboard box, cut it into pieces and now I use it for painting on. This style of journaling is great when life has got the better of you, because you can keep adding a bit at a time (there's about a zillion layers under all of this!).

I used my own carved stamps for this page. You can't really see much of them now but they are there peeking through in places....

And I just LOVE this quote! I have an old book of quotes that I got hold of in a vintage book shop many years ago and I often flick through until a random quote catches my eye. This is a funny quote, but there is a serious message under there too .......

Byee for now ... hope December and the run up to Christmas isn't getting on top of you!

One minute you have tons of time next you don't!!
Gorgeous vibrant journal page, just lovely and your homemade stamps are lush.

I am going to email you a photograph of an orniment I bought locally yesterday from my Garden Centre that sell some gorgeous unusual things.
The orniment in question is right up your street.

  3. Love this 'un' journal page Kate. It's awesome. I just love Mindy's work (i'm taking it as well) and I just find it so cool to see other's artist approach. I so agree with you on the process; a little bit here, a little there and something amazing emerges. Of course I'm always drawn into your colors. So much fun.

  10. Ya know...this Christmas has me so chilled out, that I'm wondering what I'm forgetting. It gets easier as we age I guess. Or...maybe I just know what's more important and don't care about things like I used to. Like...my tree is still...somewhere. Anyway...your painting is past fabulous. I love it. Love it. Hope you'll take lots of time to paint more during this season.

  19. Gorgeous, I have been thinking of doing her workshop...is she the same as TimSally? I'm finding The message from a lot of people at the moment is that they can't wait for Chrissy to be over. I kind of think that's a bit sad....Maybe we put too much pressure on ourselves and are doing too much doing rather than being ?!I'm feeling a bit flat myself..

    1. Hi FI, Yes - Mindy Lacefield is Timssally! I can really recommend the Frolic on-line class. It's a mini-class which feels manageable and yet you learn loads. I LOVED it :-)

  21. That's a neat way of building up your page... will have to try that sometime. Love it when you have all those individual elements that come together. Wishing you the happiest of holidays, my friend. I just finished off my December page!
