The Tweedles (sort of...)

The Tweedles by Janet Klein
Journey Collage by Amy Wilson Wellenstein
Scalloped Lace Border by Roc Nichols
Hearts cubed by Jo Capper Sandon

What can I say?! It's just as well my kids have a good sense of humour! Everyone in my family knows that I can't be trusted with a photo and that it could (at any time) end up on a journal page, altered in some way. In fact as soon as my son saw me with my stamps out and the photo in front of me, he said 'Oh no, I KNOW what you are going to do with that...'!

This background has lots and lots of layers. I started with Dylusions inks, and then scraped some gesso through a stencil. At this point it looked like it was lacking something, so I brayered some blue acrylic paint in a few random places, and I liked that, so I brayered another colour too.

I think I can only get away with using this photo because they were making silly faces for the camera, posing with tubes of sugar as moustaches (as you do!).

But then I added a few hanging hearts to show that I do love them really. Lots.

The tag in the top left corner came off an item of clothing a bought some time ago. Am I the only one who hangs onto pretty clothing tags incase they come in useful?

So, anyway, this is for a challenge over at Stampotique today, a fabulous challenge hosted by Jo and this is what she has to say:

"It's my turn to set the theme this week at Stampotique Designer's Challenge so
I decided on something that I usually avoid- using photographs along sidestamping. No.... come back... don't panic, it's not as scary as it sounds! As a non-scrapper I too feel that fear that perhaps washes over so many when the word 'scrapping' is mentioned, but this challenge theme can incorporate your photographs in anyway possible either on a page, inside a journal, on a canvas, a mini book, an altered item...anything you wish, just as long as you are using stamping somewhere too. If you are a natural scrapper, this theme couldn't be better! And if you are not, make it work for you. Please take a look at the fantastic contributions from the team to see how diverse the artwork has turned out to be."

What a great challenge! If you fancy joining us, have a look at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog here.

Byeee for now

P.S. Although I'm here, I'm not really here. Really I am in Holland, teaching at De Craftorij. Woohoo! See ya soon!

  1. I've kept 2 grunge graffiti style clothes tags waiting to be used at some point in a journal. So I hope its not mad! Great minds and all that. Fab page Kate, very funny pics not to be passed by the opportunity of being journalled though. They look great. Have a safe trip, enjoy yourself, I'm sure you're going to be inspired by something and we'll see it soon. I bet you have your Smash journal at the ready. Michelle x
