Playing with pearls...

Distress Inks and Perfect Pearl powders by Ranger
Stamps by: Wendy Vecci, Tim Holtz, Stampotique originals

Although Perfect Pearls have been on the market for ages, I have a renewed interest in them after attending Ranger U. I love the extra layer of colour you can add with them and also that little bit of shimmer :-)

This is a little ATC concertina book I demonstrated at a workshop last Saturday, using a combo of Distress Inks and Perfect pearls.  Here you can see the background stamped and coloured with pearls. Love that shimmer! :

Here are the pages:

I mounted each ATC onto mountboard to make sturdy pages, and bound them together with ribbon.

Of course, I just had to add a little stitching ..... !

Hope you're all enjoying this fabulous sunshine we've been having this last few days. Er... just wondering.... has anyone out there NOT got sunburned shoulders?! I was doing OK till I fell asleep on a deckchair in the garden yesterday afternoon! That'll teach me to have 40 winks after lunch ;-)

Byee for now........

  9. I love them !
How did you get that color of the stamps over the colored background (wondering if I make any sense lol), is it embossing powder ?

    1. Hi Nolwenn,
I coloured the background with Distress inks and let it dry fully. Then I stamped the backgrounds with another colour of Distress ink, and while the ink was wet I brushed Perfect Pearls powders (by Ranger) over. The powder sticks to the wet Distress Ink. A quick spritz of water to set the powders and that's it!

I have luckily NOT burn yet, but like you did have 40 winks in it the other day, but had splattered myself with cream so was a bit red but not burnt!

    1. Hi Kyla. No, I added the stitching as an afterthought so I stitched right through the mount board! My sewing machine coped with it just fine!

  20. Gorgoeus ATCs, I love all the layers.
I'm slightly too pink after the last few days, so I'm slathering on the aftersun. :) The glorious weather is probably not going to last much longer, so I'm trying to make the most of it.

  22. Gorgeous shimmer, love your little book! How do you prevent the perfect pearls from spreading all over your project? Whenever I try to use them, I not only get it on the stamped image (where I want it) but all over the project as well when I'm applying the perfect pearls - so in the end the whole project shimmers.... I know you can set it with water after you're done but it's the spreading while applying it that bothers me (if that makes any sense... ;) ).
    Enjoy your sunshine! :)

  23. Hi Milla,
The Perfect Pearls will stick to anything that is wet so you just need to make sure that your background is completely dry before adding any pearls otherwise they will stick to the background too!. The excess pearls should just brush off with a dry brush. And yes, you do need to set them with water.

Is this something that might be available online? Stuck here in Tulsa, OK- online is the only way to go.
