At the weekend I saw my 11 year old niece Marty. She's my arty partner-in-crime :-) She gave me this notebook, chosen by herself because it reminded her of me. Ahh! Now, you can see some additions I have made to it already .... the star hanging from the front came off the label on my husband's new Converse shoes (I have pretty much trained my entire family not to throw anything in the bin unless they have checked it with me first).
Anyway, this little notebook measures just 7.5.cm x 10.5 cm and was just crying out for some paint LOL, and it came at a good time because I have found it hard to get going again after my holiday. As a natural fidget I had to work really hard at doing nothing while I was on holiday and actually I got really good at doing nothing. Trouble is, now I'm finding it hard to start doing something again ...... So, I decided to just splash some paint around in this little book - no pressure - no trying too hard - just getting my groove back.
You can see the label from my son's new school shoes in this next page. There is also a piece of black/white tape I salvaged from a parcel from Terri recently.
Here you can see a label I cut off a toy this week. I thought this next page was finished .....
But then I decided to add a little bit more ... just because ......
It's nowhere near full yet but I'll update you with progress as I go!
Byeeeeeeeeee for now.
Love your new notebook and absolutely love what you are doing so far with it!!
ReplyDeleteAaww what a wonderful niece you have. Mine takes craft stuff from me!
ReplyDeleteLoving what you've been doing in it so far - the heart and flower just make it xx
ps I finally finished my 365 august pages and will be blogging the Sept pages tomorrow x
I just love how you use all the little scraps around your house to add to your journal-that makes it so much fun. Glad to see you getting your "groove" back although I don't think you ever lost it!
ReplyDeleteI can see the likeness too hehe. That's so sweet of your neice and she will be so proud to see what you have done with it.
ReplyDeletePat xx
Fantastic wee book and your pages are wonderful, I love the bright bold colours.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a bit of paint in a new book to get the creative juices flowing Kate.
ReplyDeleteGreat notebook! How sweet! Isn't it wonderful when someone knows us well enough to know what we'd love?!♥
ReplyDeleteoh that little notebook is just bursting with color!! I love it!!
ReplyDeletewhat an awesome little journal. And I must say it's good to know I am not the only one who gets more excited by the tags on new clothing rather than the 'clothing'. After we went back- to- school shopping I went straight to my daughter's rooms and pulled every tag off. Since I started scavenging tags, they now have their own desire to keep them and use them for book marks. I sometimes have to sneak around to reclaim clothing tags that mysteriously go missing. Love your pages.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteLove what you've done. I do the same thing regarding stuff most people throw away. My daughter came for a visit last week and threw away a bus transfer from San Francisco! You know mama had to dig it out and use it in her journal...! ; ) Luckily, the transfer was in a fresh bag, so no yucky stuff...
Love the notebook and your pages. Know exactly what you mean about once you "stop" its hard to start the engine again, but it looks as though yours is reving to go again. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift from your niece (and good on you for having trained your family, my training program is still in progress!)! And love what you've done in the notebook so far. Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely present and I love all the pages so far. I'm the same with labels you just never know when you might want to use one :)
ReplyDeleteHow cute of your niece to give you something like that - very thoughtful of her and looks like you are well on your way to getting it flled up...my favs are the pages with the head and the heart...Kirsti xx
ReplyDeletePS - you will be glad to know that I have finally started my August pages and made a start on the September ones...x
