And finally .......

Finally I have been able to upload my calendar photos for April and May. My husband (ie: the resident IT help desk) has now gone to USA for a week on business (don't worry, I gave him a shopping list for Dick Blick's hehehe). The computer is sort of up and running but it takes so much time to load everything again. At the moment I can't print or scan, but I can access the internet. I realised as I went to download the photos of my calendar pages that I couldn't because I didn't have the software reloaded on the computer. Yikes! That is enough to bring me out in a cold sweat while my husband is away!

The moral of the story is MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACKED UP YOUR FILES ON YOUR PC. These people are playing cat and mouse with the internet security providers and none of us are safe from it.

So, I created this background with lots of colour and splashes and stamped bottle lids and sponged through stencils. In real life it is a riot of colour! I added this quirky stamp by Stampotique and then gave her a hat. I found this old quote 'ne'er cast a clout till May is out'. I have no idea what it means but it seemed appropriate! Let me know if you know what it means :-)

Edit: Thanks to Suzy and Lynne, who have informed me that 'clout' is winter clothing so the saying means keep your winter clothes on till the end of May. OOh I wouldn't dream of taking my vest off yet LOL!

Here are my April pages finished. Why didn't you tell me April only has 30 days? It's too late now! My April 31st entry will also have to appear as the 1st May LOL!!

I'm so happy to know that so many of you are still in the challenge. Right now I'm off to dunk my children in the bath but I'll be blog hopping later to see what you have been up to.

Byeee for now

  3. Clout is a word for a garment so it's advising you not to remove a layer of clothing until the end of May!

  4. Wow, I just want to touch this--love all the colors. I have no idea what the quote means, but I LOVE it!

  5. The saying is apparently a bit ambiguous - with regard to whether it refers to the month of May or the May blooms on the Hawthorn but means to keep your winter clothing meantime

  6. I'm loving your pages - so much colour and loveliness. I shall return tomorrow to read April properly as it's late and I've had a glass of wine!! I've blogged mine and still can't believe I'm up to date.
Keeping everything crossed your pc behaves until your hubby gets home. xx

  7. Kate, your posts always bring a smile! Loading in the software is so darn time consuming. And you're right. Seems like every time you go to do something, you realize it's "missing" and have to spend time uploading software. When you mentioned Dick Blick my heart went pitter patter!!! Love your calendars. Hugs, Terri xoxo

  8. Oh Kate, I just love your pages.....you are amazing and inspiring! I have left my calender by the wayside, I just felt I could not keep up with my jewelry, art, 40 hour work week, and the calender....but I wish I could when I look at yours...it is so inspiring!

  10. Well, between us we've got April covered...I found a wee umbrella top on the floor of my study last week and realised I only have 29 days in April - oops!!

My Granny and Mum always say "Dinna cast a cloot till May's oot" - i.e. keep wrapped for the moment, it's not Summer yet!!

Love the pages...have made a start to my May page but a tummy bug is doing the rounds here so it's nowhere near finished...I'll get there though!!

  17. Was just about to post the meaning of the saying and noticed you've already had post, so I just need to say how much I love your pages. Gorgeous depth of colour as usual! Hope you are surviving sans help desk bloke...!

  18. Fab pages again, Kate!!

I am led to believe that the May you are referring to is actually May blossom, rather than the month, and that you should keep your winter clothes on til all the flowers have gone! I just love old wives tales and sayings...there's so many variations as to what they actually mean!

  20. I love the saying and am glad to learn what it means, though like you it would not have mattered. I would have used it any way. You make me feel guilty I live less than 30 minutes from a Dick Blick.
