Well, I had a lovely time at The Great Northern Papercrafts Extravaganza last weekend :-)))
I went along with the very best of intentions repeating my not-so-favourite mantra 'I will not spend a lot...I will not spend a lot...' OOPS. Really, it is a lot like eating custard creams. You open a packet thinking 'I'll just have one' but then after you have had one you think 'oh, one more won't hurt' and then you think 'well, I've had two I might as well finish the packet' and before you know it they have all gone.
I was doing really well until I got to Art From The Heart (yes Dyan, it's COMPLETELY your fault!) and I started with just one or two things in my basket and then Dyan pointed out a few things that I really NEEDED and then a few more things crept into my basket, at which point I thought 'Well, I've got a few things in there now might as well go the whole hog'.
And I got a few lovely things from The Stamp Man too - check out the new stamps here. And you will see some lovely blue shimmery dribbles on my journal page which are these here.
Ah, but my new things make me happy :-)
Look, I can make a lovely messy background in my journal by painting, spraying and stenciling. My desk, work area and nearby lamp are now all roughly the same shade!
And you just can't have enough Stampotique stamps. Just love the new range. This one sums up how I feel after a hard week at work!
Got some new word stamps by 7 gypsies, 'cos you can never have enough of those:
Thanks for all your suggestions as to what I should do with my paper chain (see previous post), you offered some great suggestions. I love this one off Erin:
'You could always count down to a paper chain party. Tear one off each day and when the last one is torn off have a party. in the middle of the living room. under a blanket fort. with flashlights. and sugar. and scrabble. just a thought.'
Brilliant :-)
Bye for now.....................
What a fab journal page, I'm a huge Stampotique fan and would have them all if I could.
ReplyDeleteOff to follow your links xx
ooh Kate I didn't go couldn't afford it LMAO! Love what you've bought those - loving it all - your background is gorgeous too! Those stamped images are awesome I was looking at them the other day and attempting to refrain - don't think that's going to last long!

tis a hard thing to do to go to a big event and start spending, trying so hard to be sensible b4 you spend, but once you start you cant stop. Im at Ally Pally in 3 weekends time and I cannot wait, have been squirreling money away like crazy, so I can just go mad mad mad. To be honest though I dont think I ve used everything i bought last year yet, oops, but it does look grand in my craft area and will come in useful one day or another.
ReplyDeleteYou make me chuckle with your wit! Great page Kate, I'm loving that stampotique stamp. Your background is FAB - oh so painterly messy and layered! (My hubby tells me our camera looks a nice shade of splatter - good job its not on the lens eh?)
ReplyDeleteHow come I get the blame..???? I was just trying to be helpful, a bit like a personal shopper...Where else would you get such personal service..???? lmao.
ReplyDeleteNow you know iuf you didn't have me you would only fritter it away on silly things..!!!

ReplyDeleteLove the background you created and that image...so wrong but so right all at the same time!?! Kinda reminds me of the Gorillaz characters...
ReplyDeleteFrom past experience I've found setting a budget a pointless exercise at these things...especially where Dyan is involved. She does have a knack of inspiring to the point of bankruptcy...but we are very willing victims - heehee!! xx

ReplyDeleteI love those Stampotique stamps but I don't think I have the right customer base for them unfortunately but I might have to add a few to my private stash.
I love your messy background - I remember having to write off several items in the shop when I splattered my Dabbers! so I can identify with you there...and with the custard creams dilemma!!!
BTW the Dina Wakley class has started off really well - have been really messy with gesso.
