Life is full of surprises, sometimes big and sometimes small. Yesterday as I dropped the children off at school another Mum told me how much she liked my blog and had felt inspired to start her own journal. For some reason this was a real surprise to me that someone so local to me is reading my blog, taking an interest and even feels inspired (hello *waving* I can almost see you from my house!) She also told me how she has followed all my links and has been looking at your lovely art work too! So, as I was playing about with my new Tim Holtz stamps I decided to journal on it using a lovely scratchy dip-pen.
Here's a sneek peek of another journal page I just completed:
Seems to me that ending up in the Dog House is inevitable - we're all there at some point!
Now, over on The Art of Moodling Sarah has challenged us all to share a picture of where we create our art. Oh my goodness, I'm cringing right down to my toes as I do this:
This is a room in the house that we haven't decorated yet, hence the bare floorboards, mismatched curtains and old rug on the floor. In some ways this suits me because I don't worry about making a mess :-) Check out the paints all over the floor...... and all the boxes balanced on the shelves. I took this photo last night - you can see the journal page above! Do you think the editor of 'Where women create' will be interested in me?!
Bye for now
As one who has followed your art for a while now, I must say you are very, very inspiring right now. Your artwork has an amazing spirit and beauty that really speaks to me and inspires. Your actually on my Mac as one of my frequent pages and I can't wait for when it flags to me that you've posted, I pop on over and have a little treat!
ReplyDeleteWho cares what our craftrooms look like... They are well used and loved and yours certainly does look well used and loved!
Kate, how fun, you got to meet a blogger fan! :)
ReplyDeleteI love, love the red journal spread. I don't know what it is about that color that I am so taken with. Love the birds on the bottom too.
When my studio looks good - it means I am not doing anything!! Well, it's even messy then. Oh well!!
HAHAHAHAA wish my craft room was this tidy !!!! you want to see my bomb shell, or my crafting carnage as my hubby calls it hehehehehe, love the journal page xxx
ReplyDeleteYou got me with the birds!! Then I read the story and was sooo excited for you!! How wonderful to connect like that! Your pages are alive and they are so inspiring to me!! I loooove them....super fantastic work!!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the dog house, sooooo true!
I admire your candor of your workspace...mine is pretty similar, maybe I'll show a comparison!???
Thanks for energizing my day!
Brilliant Kate, you're a brave girl!! I actually think it's quite tidy! And it would definitely make it into 'Where Women REALLY Create'. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteAnother two fab pages Kate ! love them both equally though the red pages pop :)
ReplyDeleteI think your craft space is ideal, like you say at least you dont have worry about spills etc. Myself I have been stuck with what was a long, long time ago the kitchen table, eating there is a very distant memory, lol. x
Your 'studio' looks like a perfect spot for snipping and splashing and it obviously suits you well enough as your pages show so much ingenuity. There is nothing worse than feeling inhibited about making a mess.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your message Kate :) The glaze is by Ranger/Tim Holtz..think Dyan will have it...I love it xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and leaving a message :) i have put a piccie up for you to have a nose at my mess hahahaha
ReplyDeletealls fair in love a war, its not cheating it improvising HAHAHAHA i darnt put any close up on my shelfs there the worst bit hehehehehe can you see all the glossy mags on the floor, im dieing to do some art journal pages too but have no idea where to start !!!! one day !!!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA see thats why i left out the close up hehehehe it a lovely mess though full of bit and pieces to play with :) i will dive into journaling soon ... i hope !!! ill let you know when i do :)
ReplyDeleteBet you know where everything is though! Your work space obviously works...you produce stunning art. Love your journal pages Kate.

Been a long time since I've visited your site. I've been bogged down with life and not much crafting going on in my 'girl cave' as it's come to be known in my house. My entire ROOM looks much like your table. I posted photos of my dirty secret last fall - such an embarassment! Please, no one in the states sign me up for an intervention from the hoarders show - this is the only room that looks this way!
ReplyDeleteLove these works you've done as always! When my supplies are calling I'll sure be visiting your site for inspriration again and again!
hugs,
Cindy
love your red page Kate. I'm so close to having a go at journalling, I just don't know what to write! LOL so I'm gathering pics journalling pages to inspire and hopefully it will take off
ReplyDeletePS: looks like a very creative craft area to me!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first read this post, I thought that it said your Mum had started to journal, which, knowing her, surprised me. That you have inspired someone to start is of no surprise at all of course!Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteI discovered your blog through Sharon at Livewire jewelry. I love your workspace, it reminds me of mine, but the work that you create is gorgeous. I have to keep coming back and seeing more. Thank you for the inspiration
ReplyDeletelove your journal pages, as always, and I am glad to see your space!! ...as Brian K said, "well used and loved," which I think is better than "well styled and un-used (unused looking, anyway)" which is what those magazines feature.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I haven't visited blogs for a couple of weeks and feel like I'm behind the times on your work ... I'm just adoring your journal pages, they are phenomenal.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome to meet someone local who reads your blog! One of the reasons I started to blog was to inspire others, and to know that it's actually working must be a great feeling!
ReplyDeleteLove your art space :) mine is very similar, very messy. I bought a cheap rug just to put down so I can get paint all over and not worry about it. :)
