In my dreams....

Every time we go on holiday in Europe I am reminded of one of my upsticks and travel around Europe in a camper van or biggie caravan. Not just any old banger mind - one like this! Something lovely, retro, fully equipped, spacious etc. It is the ultimate Bohemian dream.
It occured to me as I was journaling on this page that I could never follow this dream through because I am a creature who survives on routine, and I like being at home ( I can't help it, I'm a Cancerian, it's out of my control). This of course is why I dream of it - it represents the person that I'm not.  Even on a two week holiday I start looking forward to going home. And can you imagine the size of trailer I'd need for all my art stuff?!
This is a slightly more grungy page I did as I'm experimenting with different techniques, it has got loads of layers underneath that you can't really see in the photo. I need to stop being such a perfectionist and accept my mistakes. Working in my small leather bound journal is really good for me because I can't just rip a page out - I have to see it through and this has been such good practice.
Well, it's a bank holiday here in the UK, the last one before Christmas (did I just mention the C word?) and the weather is typical English bank holiday weather. It's grey, a bit cool and it looks like rain. But being English we will brave the weather regardless and head off for a day out taking waterproofs with us :-)))
Bye for now.
Happy bank holiday.

  1. Hi Kate, love these pages - especially the silver bullet!!!

I know what you mean about wanting to be home. I love going places, but after a bit I am ready to come home too.

My husband and I were in England about 20 years ago. We had a rental car, my husband was driving, he turned the corner of a very narrow road, staying on the side - I heard pop, pop!! We had 2 flat tires!! Two!! So we got out and went to the first place we saw to call for help. It was a quaint little pub - filled on a Monday afternoon because it was a holiday!! :) So there we stayed until someone from the rental place came to pick us up. The only car left to rent was a stick shift!!! :) Imagine an American not used to driving on the left side of the road, then having to drive and shift!!! It was hilarious!! Greg kept trying to roll the window down!!! lol

We had a lovely trip, I want to go back!!

  2. We all need to dream! any crafter needs space sometimes the two just cannot be combined :) love the commentary and the picture.

    the journal page is fabulous!

  3. Hope your bank holiday monday turned out as lovely as ours did here in Chelmsford. The morning looked grey and miserable, by 12 it was sunny and bright and we ended up spending the afternoon in the park!

  4. I'm sure you can hire one of these in the UK! You could do part of your dream!!!!
I've just posted a piccie of our new family member. I'm a home girl too, but trundling round with the ability to put the kettle on for a cup of tea, and sit down at a table when the mood takes me to either read or journal - bliss!!!

  5. Oh, I love Airstreams and I want one just like this - It would be so cool to be on the road yet surrounded by your own things. I'm sure you could even set up a journaling workstation in one of those! Great page too. Love the 'grungy' look

  6. Hmmm, me thinks I should bring it over the hills to visit and we could go for a cup of tea and a journal!!

  7. Your journal pages are outstanding as always and I see you're using your punchinella again.

Maybe they make those silver caravans with the extendable side so you can create extra space for your crafting?? I also have an award on my blog for you ... it's in the same post as the award you gave to me. It' got a pretty cool pic. Keep well.

  8. Ha ha maybe you could have a trailer on the back for all your stuff, or I coulkd just post you some out every fortnight, lol xx

  9. Love your journal pages, and yes, the gypsy dream is a fun one!

Thanks so much for leaving a comment!
