Birdy Inchies!

Ooooh, can you tell I've had a busy week at work?! All work and no play, that's me. Ah well, I've had a little bit of playtime this weekend and I have completed some inchies on the theme of 'birds' that I made for a trade. To be honest, I made them twice but the first lot were such complete rubbish that they are heading for the bin. Sometimes I just can't leave well alone and I have to keep adding a bit more .... and a bit more .... until I spoil them. The first lot were a bit too grungy - even by my standards. So, I tried not to everdo it with these. I started with my fave Claudine Hellmuth paints and chose these colours:
Gorgeous aren't they? And I painted over some old text for the background (it was 'The Darling Buds of May' if I remember rightly)

Then I added my fave stamp of the moment, from Dark Room Door. I love it, love it, love it. It's just perfect for backgrounds.

Then I added the birds. I think these are mostly crows but I could be wrong. They could be rooks or a number of others but for the purpose of my art these are crows and rooks :-)
The images came from the fab Paperstreet on Etsy (see the address in my sidebar).

And finally I added some numbers, some words and of course a little stitching to finish.
I MUST NOT ADD ANYTHING ELSE I MUST NOT ADD ANYTHING ELSE I MUST NOT ADD ANYTHING ELSE....

Byeeeeeee for now

And, I agree, you might want those first ones for something else down the road! Go save them!

  6. You may wonder why I'm commenting on such an old post, but it's because I wanted to thank you for the step-by-step photos. I just discovered your blog and I've been sitting in front of my computer for the last hour, mouth hanging slightly open, just goggling at the beautiful colours and artwork. Thanks for so much inspiration!
