Well, finally, here are my October pages - better late than never! I'm really pleased to have made it 3/4 way through the challenge and although sometimes I'm running a little late I'm still in! Only 3 months to go until the year is complete :-) Leave me a comment here if you're still in and I'll hop over to your blog and see what you've been up to.
This time I went for a Halloween theme obv, because although I don't like Halloween itself I love the images (see previous post). These gorgeously weird and spooky images came from Marsha at Tumblefish Studios. Do check out Marsha's Etsy here.
I painted the background with acrylic paints by Dylusions which are gorgeous to paint with. This is how the page looked in the early stages:
I wanted to add a little extra detail in the corner where the figures were going to be placed so I used a couple of Tim Holtz stamps:
Here's a close up of the spooktacular family, a little altered by me. A touch of the Addams Family don't you think?! The little boy was supposed to have a witches hat too but somehow I lost it. I'm still hopeful it will turn up .....
I used a mask (circle punch) to create a moon and added a few bats (Invoke Arts). Got to have bats for Halloween!
Is it just me or is the new blogger photo uploader rubbish?! It has crashed on me several times this afternoon and although I wanted to add a few more photos to today's post I have had to admit defeat. Grrrrrr.
Byeeeee for now.
Wonderful, wonderful. Start to finish. Thanks for sharing your step by step. I love the way the page started with a great background.Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteLove the dear little bats and the skull and cross bones face.
ReplyDeleteI'm still in by the skin of my teeth - gone all purple for October, I don't know why.
Well I have arrived back in Yorkshire (got a class to teach tonight and College tomorrow) to a lovely sunny autumn day. I've left the camera back in Durham so I still cannot upload my pages - the scanner is conked! To be fair, October is only half ready to show!
ReplyDeleteBut I see the spooky is out in your house hehehe... I love how your page has turned out -although I'm not into bats - one flew into our house just before we moved and scared me half to death! (We shooed him back out!) Now every time I come back I keep checking to make sure he hasn't found a way back in! x x
Great calendar pages....love the Halloween theme :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that the new Blogger photo uploader is rubbish, it drove me nuts today, losing uploaded pics several times and taking forever.
Looks gorgeous ! This project sounds like so much fun, I think I would love to do something like that next year .... And yes, uploading images is a pain at the moment, it is just not working for me. I upload to my Picasa album and then add them out of Picasa, that works ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour pages may be late, but they never fail to amaze! Fabulous pages as always, Kate! All very fun!
ReplyDeletegreat work...
ReplyDeleteStunning pages as always Kate, adore those bats they're spooktactular. Love that TH stamp in the corner too :-)

This is such FUN Kate, and your monthly pages have inspired me to have a go at this challenge. Where is it and is it still running?? Wish I could make backgrounds like you, but am still learning with varying degrees of success ...
ReplyDeletelove the backdrop and those paint colours are gorgeous, stop tempting me, am trying to be good, oh no had that funny little tummy thing, I could go and buy them now, I mustnt do it, resist resist (resistance is futile "Dr Who & the Cybermen") ooh I think my goose is well and truly cooked, tell me are they different colours from Claudines paints!!! :) will try and resist till you answer, so if you never answer I wont give in, but I really want to know the answer, its a quandry Kate, I leave it in your hands :) Piddawinkle writing from the Looney Bin
ReplyDeletenot just you, im trying to upload 1 picture and getting nowhere fast.
ReplyDeleteI agree Kate the new blogger photo uploader is rubbish. I sent for the images after seeing your previous post fab,fab and fab.
ReplyDeleteLove your October pages and how you have altered the images, hope you find his hat.
Pat xx
No, it's not just you with the new blogger uploader I had a very frustrating weekend of trying to upload photos.I was beginning to think it was me. I'm still with you clinging on with my finger tips this month. I'm usually a little bit organised but for September month even that didn't happen.
ReplyDeleteLoving your October page, the moon and bat detail, the images (did the hat turn up?), the colour. I really must go and check out the new images in etsy.
love your pages kate. love how you do your backgrounds. they are always so beautiful! i actually like the little boy without a hat!
ReplyDeletewonderful bright cheerful pages Kate. do I spy a Crafter's workshop stencil there? I had exactly the same problems as you uploading yesterday afternoon. continuously crashing.
ReplyDeleteKate, the wonderful artist you are !!
ReplyDeleteI love your Addams family, your backgrounds are totally awesome.Thecolors are fabulous and work great.
Thanks for sharing.Hugs Laura.xoxx
Enjoy your day...
This is SO GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteStanding "O" for October, Kate! It's fabulous! I must agree with the majority - your backgrounds rule!!! And, yes, I want the old Blogger uploader back asap. Not only is the photo uploader not working properly, I've been having difficulty with other things today too. The gremlins are having a party and it's at Blogger!!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo
ReplyDeleteI just love these pages, I'm a sucker for those bright shades. It's great to see the base of your pages for more inspiration - thanks xx
ReplyDeleteI went to the blogger help page to see if there was any answers. You can go back to the old uploader until they get rid of it altogether. Do you think it is a plot to get us to use picasa?
ReplyDeleteLove the pages - glad you persevered.
Kate another lovely month to record life's happenings. You use color beautifully!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as usual. Blogger is slower with photos now. I hate change.
ReplyDeleteLove your pages and I really like how you have shown the background before you added anything. This looks like a good project, will it run again next year?
ReplyDeleteWonderful spread! You're right about blogger and I'm glad you mentioned it, cause i was starting to think it was just me. I wanted to post one picture the other day and it took me half an hour to get it right. Either it didn't upload at all (just got stuck) or it did upload but not show on the page. It's driving me crazy. Today however everyhting worked just fine for a change. Oh well.... Why do these sites have the need to 'fix' things that aren't broken in the first place?
ReplyDeleteAnother great spread, I love how you use Marsha's images. And the bat stamps are the best, yes you need bats for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's been so long since I visited your blog. I really must remember to come back more often. I always get so inspired when I do. I would never have thought to use a stamp UNDER an image. I am just not a stamper, so I should take inspiration and a few lessons from you. Thanks for always having color and beauty whenever I visit.
ReplyDeleteJust come across your fab blog you have some wonderful ideas and I love the callender pages such a great way of doing it .
ReplyDeleteVon
If you think you are late Kate - I have only just blogged my September pages eeeek! But I am still going.
ReplyDeleteYour pages are fabulous. :)
