Art Journal Play!

Do you remember this? I made a little concertina journal a while ago, and I happen to love it! I leave it open on my desk and when I have a bit of spare paint left over, I just slap it on in a carefree fashion! It really is a very liberating way of art journaling.

So recently I added a couple more pages ... with a bit of paint, bit of washi tape, bit of doodling, bit of collage, bit of whatever ya fancy!

Happy days!

New on-line class coming soon!

Well, I've been making these miniature matchboxes complete with teeny tiny journals and mini prompt cards for a while and I've had quite a few requests for an on-line class. It has taken me a little while to get my act together (LOL!) but it's coming soon! Next week! It's all done, I've just got to check for any bloopers before I go public haha!

It's going to be a mini class (1 hour 10 mins of video), about mini things, for a mini price!

It includes ...preparing the matchboxes ...

Making the backgrounds using paints and inks. These backgrounds will also come as a download as part of the class for those of you who still want to make matchboxes but don't want to get inky ;-)

Making journals on a mini scale:

Decorating the boxes with stamped images, or digi downloads. I'll be giving away my collaged houses download as part of the class.

Making a mini concertina journal:

And some journal prompt cards:

I just LOVE making these marvellous miniatures, and I have loved making this class too!

The class will include 1 hour 10 mins of step-by-step videos hosted in a private group on Vimeo, 3 x background downloads, 1 x collaged houses download.
It will be available in my Etsy shop next week! (Oh, and these matchboxes that I made as part of the class are available in my Etsy too!)

Byeeeee have a wonderful weekend!

Colourful Curlz!

Love my new Curlz stamp for Stampotique! I played about with a brayered background here, using my DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics (the colours are lush!) along with the Tinting Base. I scribbled a bit on the background too with a DecoArt Mister by taking the nozzle out of the bottle and using it to scribble with. Love doing that!

Here's a close-up of Curlz:

You can find photos of samples using my stamp range, and links to purchase on my blog page here!

Byee for now!

Journal lettering.

Newton by Daniel Torrente
Design Cube 2 by France Papillon

I just LOVE teaching my regular art journaling class at Art from the Heart. It is a class of regular art journalers who are all striving to improve and increase their skills base - me included! Every time they challenge me with new things they would like to learn which sometimes pushes me out of my comfort zone, but also forces me to try new things.

This time it was lettering on journal pages, not something I have done a lot of in the past, but I really enjoyed doing once I got going. I really don't think I am the world's greatest at lettering but it's always good to try something different. And I chose a very appropriate quote!

A great way to practise new skills in your art journal is to divide your page into smaller sections, it's much less intimidating this way. So this is how we started and practised our lettering:

I used the newly released Newton by Stampotique. He's great isn't he? In a kooky, ugly kind of a way ha! And he's BIG ... great for larger journal pages.

Don't forget to check out all of the fabulous latest releases by Stampotique *here*.

And if you haven't already done so, check out this fabulous new on-line class for 2016. I'll be teaching here!

Byee for now!
