Well, I think it's time.
I started this blog in 2008!! Just as I was beginning to get into mixed media but such a lot has changed since then. The world is now a very different place.
Technology has moved on so fast and has really left the world of blogging behind. I met so many people - both in real life and on-line through blogging, and have exchanged and received so much beautiful art from so many people from around then world. ATC trades ... remember them??! And I've still got it all :-)
But in modern times everything seems to get harder. We are now feeling the impact of BREXIT. New GDSR ruling means it has become very hard for me (and others) to sell access to classes etc in the EU and N Ireland, so currently my Etsy shop is closed. The FB Lives that we all worked so hard on during the Lockdown days are now being removed from Facebook. There is even an impact on Vimeo where I have hosted my classes for many many years, and I'm now working on that. It just gets harder.
Time marches on and now it seems that we want faster access - Facebook, Instagram, TikTok. And I think our attention span is getting shorter - we want quick access, short videos, condensed information. And this all leaves the world of blogging trailing a little behind.
I will continue to make art and to design for Paper Artsy and to teach, as well as providing videos and content for on-line collective workshops such as Wanderlust, and Gratitude Junk Journal. BUT I will probably just no longer post to my blog. And It may start to look a little different as I let my subscriptions lapse (yes, it costs £ to keep it all looking like it does!) But the blog will remain here, and there's a very good reason for this.
THINGS are hard to find on FB and YouTube - they very easily get lost in the listings, but here on my blog you can find all of my previous videos for various companies by clicking on the tabs above. It's all there. In the right order and easy to find :-)
You can find me on Facebook *here* and my creative group *here* and instagram under 'thekathrynwheel'. And I'm currently working on updating my YouTube too *here*
And finally ... from the archives ... here is my first ever blog post from 2008 ...
And my last blog post from 2025..
Byee for now. Thank you all for being here over the years!
It's always a sad day when someone in my feedreader decides to stop blogging. Not that I blog anymore, either. But still... I'll miss opening my feedreader every morning and reading your posts.
