Journaling and painting ...

Images by Teesha Moore

I'm still loving working in my mini Moleskine sketchbook. Loving it. It's a challenge to work small but sometimes it just suits the way I am feeling. In the page above I tried to move away from reds and pinks  because I couldn't help but notice that everything I have done recently seems to be pink, but a little bit of red crept in when I wasn't looking! I have had the images (by the wonderful Teesha Moore) for ages, but this little journal is a great way to use up leftover images and odds and ends.

The next page is a bit of a mess. But I don't care. I don't want my journals to become a precious place where I am fearful of trying things out or just generally making a mess. I LIKE making a mess, and it's all about the process for me. I found the sweet little image in a vintage children's poetry book, and it reminded me of myself, in my previous life as a secondary school music teacher. Those days seem a long time ago now.....

Some of you have been asking about my small journal. It is a Moleskine Folio Sketchbook and measures just 14 x 9 cm when closed. Let me show you .... :

Last year (OMG could it really be that long ago?!) I signed up for an on-line class with the wonderful Mindy Lacefield. I LOVE Mindy Lacefield. She makes everything look so effortless and carefree and fabulous. Anyway, this year I have promised myself some 'me' time and I finally had chance to catch up with lesson 1. I didn't get it quite right, I know that. Her eyes aren't right, her head isn't tilted enough ..... But I had a lot of fun doing it and I learned a lot. You can go and check out Mindy's classes here.

And finally, talking of classes ... I finally got round to putting my 'Journal Soup' class on-line. This class originally appeared as part of 21 Secrets 2013, but after a few requests I have now made it available to all. Thanks so much to everyone who has joined Journal Soup so far - big Mwah! to you! And if you haven't but you're interested, check out all the details here.

Bye for now ......

  9. I love your small pages... I use different sized art journals myself (have 6 going! From small - almost the same size you show here - to big 25 x 35 cm) and I love 'hopping' between all of them... Last week I made some ATCs - had not done that in ages - and that, even smaller, size felt good to work on again too... you think I'm ready for creating inchies now? Enjoy your day!
