Woot woot! I'm very excited to share with you all that I am the featured artist over on the Stampington and company blog today :-)))))  If you hop on over to the Stampington blog here, you will find a mixed media piece by me with full step-by-step instructions. Go and take a peek!

As always, it is a great honour to be asked to submit by Stampington, and I am delighted to be featured on their blog today.

Yesterday was my birthday. 45 if you must know ;-) My children keep reminding me that I am now officially middle-aged (they are assuming that I am going to live until I am 90, and therefore I am half way). And as I woke up from a little afternoon snooze yesterday I must admit I felt a little middle-aged. But lookie what my lovely husband got for me. Wheeeeeeeee!! Another camera, ('cos you can't ever have enough). But this isn't just any old camera, this is an analogue camera from Lomography, with a beautiful Russian lens, and wrapped in beautiful red leather *sigh*. Who said the future was digital? I think the future is most definitely analogue. Clickety click.

And here is the little beauty with a few extra add-ons:

Hopefully in the following weeks I will be able to share some of my analogue pictures with you. That's if I remember to set the exposure, wind the film on, and remove the lens cap. I already took one photo with lens cap still on Grrrrrrrrr.

My husband surprised me very much on my birthday by making me a birthday cake. Unfortunately he won't let me share a photo of it on here (such a spoilsport), but let's just say I gave him 10/10 for effort ;-)

Check back tomorrow because I will have another link to another step-by-step project I did ....... and check back later in the week for my DVD give-away!

Byeeeeee for now.

  1. love the background step by step and the endresult! the work of a talented lady who's faaaaar from being midaged ;)))

  2. Oooh... I didn't know it was your birthday! (belated) congratulations Kate!!! LOVE that camera! I used to develop (is that the word?) my own photos and when I think back on that, I can almost smell the 'develop liquid' (grrr... how's that stuff called in English?) Anyway, have fun with this beauty!

  14. Congratulations and happy birthday! We are the same age and I say definitely NOT middle aged! lol. Am off to check out the Stampington blog now x

  15. Love your step by step on Stampington's blog!!!! And it's a beautiful page!!!

  16. Loved seeing your feature - it was great! One question - when you use the ink pads in the initial step, do you apply them directly to the paper or use an applicator?

    1. Hi Teri. My initial steps were with Dylusions ink sprays and I sprayed them directly onto the page. I used the ink pads for stamping onto that. Hope that helps.

    2. Thanks, Kathryn. That does help lots. xo

  17. Happy birthday for yesterday! Have seen the tutorial fab!! Thanks for sharing nd a fab always! Trace x

  18. Fantastic, off to read through stampington blog.
Hope you had a fab birthday, I am very impressed your hubbie made you a cake...he knows the way to a girls heart! 45 is the new 35 (I was 41 this year....and feel like I am still not a proper grown up)!

Welcome to the amazing world of lomo....I have had one for a few yrs and love it! The photos look cross processed, very 1970's looking (I am looking out for an instant camera next so I can add photos on the go to my travel journal).

Lovely course as usual in your work.

  19. congratulations Kate and this is just another great page you made

  20. Congrats Kate.
Lovely work again, love your colours, no wonder you are featured.
Love Love your camera, so beautifully retro, perfect.

  21. Happy Birthday to you!
    xoxo Sioux

  22. You lucky girl (notice girl and not middle aged lady! Ha ha), you'll be snap happy over the next week, the trick is winding the film back into the reel and leaving a bit sticking out for the processor. I still have my Pentax SLR, but it's in a camera bag gathering dust on my CD rack, gone are the good old days. No more picture quality stickers for me! Ha ha. Hope you had a great day. Well done on your feature on the Stampington blog, it's a brilliant page, I love the way you swirl your liquid pearls. Michelle x

  23. It's beautiful! Congrats on the feature... I am off to scope it out in full detail. Lovely new camera, too... happy birthday!
