I'm slowly getting my groove back after my recent illness ..... I can tell because for quite a while I didn't do anything in my art journal, in fact I couldn't even face looking at it. To art journal you have to actually think, and thinking was making my brain hurt. There is irony in this though isn't there? When I am busy at work I dream of having time off so I can play with my art things, but then when I had time off ill I couldn't even face it. In fact I'm not really sure what I did while I was off work ... I certainly don't have much to show for it!
Anyway, here is the latest page in my journal ..... The background before I added to it:
And then the background with a few images added:
I read this quote somewhere recently - I'm sorry I can't remember where - and this is what I need to remember 'your art journal is your friend'.
I'm always in love with circles, but at the moment I am especially in love with these circle stamps by Dylusions, and I love to scribble round them with an oil pastel:
Right, that's me done, I'm off. Have a good week everyone. Byeeeeeeeeeee
Fantastic Kate and looks even better in real life. So glad you are on the way to recovery and feeling much better, good to see you yesterday and to meet Eleanor.xx
ReplyDeleteLOVE these colours, Kate - right now I need a friend, so I may well just go do some journalling before I crack up cos I'm so upset (and annoyed with myself!). It's a great quote and a great one to remember - thank you for that. Really love the way you pulled this together. Glad you're starting to feel better, too - as you say, always a good sign when you want to play! Be gentle with yourself xxx
ReplyDeleteOooh Kate, this is a scrummy page! gorgeous background and great images all pulled together in your perfect Kate way :D Loverleee. So glad you're feeling more normal x x x

ReplyDeleteWow, fantastic page, love the colours. It was lovely to see you yesterday and to compare experiences of a bronchoscopy lung washout, lol. So pleased you're feeling better xx
ReplyDeleteGreat page Kate and how true is that quote! My journal has certainly been my friend today. Take care, Dianne.

ReplyDeleteI really know what you mean - just recently I was so down and tired and just couldn't do any art journalling at all. I didn't even miss it I felt that bad!! Not now though, and glad to hear (and see) that you are back on form!! Like those circle stamps too ... might have to get some.

ReplyDeleteglad to hear you're feeling better! I'm just glad that there are so many inspiring blogs out there for when illness strikes - miles better than daytime tv, and full of inspiration that I'm sure soaks into your brain for future use when you're well enough to do something with it. Great page, love the idea of circling with oil pastel, hadn't thought of that one!

ReplyDeletewhat can I say your backgrounds are awesome!!!! Glad you are feeling a bit better, hope that continues!!hugs trace x
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous page, the fusion of colours & textures is divine, I'm glad you're feeling better too :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and so true too. I love how you evolve a page Kate and how you're art is changing. I know what you mean about irony. I don't "work" any more but it's amazing how time is just eaten up by life and illness, preventing me from crafting as much as I'd like. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for this inspiration! I am also gearing up to re-start some tough journaling. You blog is lovely and will soon be adding a link to this beautiful place from my home blog. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat page!! Your Journal IS your friend: AMEN!
