This and that...

Bard by Amy Wilson Wellenstein
Crow Line by Janet Klein
for Stampotique Originals
Inks and paints by Dylusions

I like to keep a cheap sketch book for mopping up spills of ink, or ink left over on a stencil - a tip I learned from the wonderful Dina Wakley, and you can probably see that this page began life as a spillage of ink! I added extra and colour to the background with Dylusions paints, and then added the very quirky 'Bard'. As he looks like he has his hands outstretched to catch something I added a few balls for him to catch (or drop!), and then added a slightly sinister row of crows, along with my words:

True, huh?

And here's a journal page in progress..... I forced myself to use purple 'cos I don't do purple! Not sure why .... I like it when I see what other people have done with the colour but I find it tricky. Now all I need to do is journal on this ....

Raindrop stamp by Claudine Hellmuth
Letter stamps by Hero Arts
Staple stamp by Tim Holtz
Basic Backgrounds stamps, paints and inks by Dylusions

Keep an eye on my blog over the next few days ..... I've got a couple of give-aways coming up..... one give-away because there is something exciting happening over at Traplet publications, and one because I can't help but notice that I am nearly, very nearly, at 800 followers. Just saying, that's all..........

Byeee for now.

  5. I love your little bard... Saw him before with an other art journaling and he caught my eye. Maybe he will juggle birds and balls. How is that for a thing to do on a grey monday in North Yorkshire? With the pork stew in the oven...

  19. Looks like you already made it to 800 plus followers. Congrats! As I was reading along and admiring your lovely journal pages, I couldn't help but laugh because I had never seen a STAPLE rubber stamp before. I can sure see uses for it, especially if you want a staple, but don't have a way to cover the back side. Too funny!

  21. I just love your use of color. Like you, I too like to mop up my extra, leftover color, but I usually use a paper towel and then I iron it flat once it dries. For you though what I think is pretty amazing, it doesn't matter how you start a project, your use of acrylic paint always comes through as a "Kate Crane" original. You can spot your style and technique right away. I want that so badly for myself, I want people to look at my artwork and without seeing a name on it say, "that must be by Shannon Sawyer." Oh well, maybe in the near future that will start to happen. In the meantime I get such inspiration from every aspect of your artwork. I do realize btw, that I pretty much say the same thing to you all the time, sorry about that. Congrats on over 800 followers, that's amazing, I can't even imagine.
