Yay! I had a bit of time for journaling at last! This is a page in my A4 Moleskine (8" x 11.5") and it's a little different to my usual because I wanted to have more of a play with these:
Altered Originals Spray inks www.afth.co.uk
I love these pen style sprayers which you can get seperately because you can put some of the ink into these bottles and add your own sparkly stuff, making your own colour combos. Cool!
Now I can't deny that there is a touch of Dina Wakley influence in this page but that is because it is only 9 more sleeps till I get to go to a whole 3 days of arty fun with Dina when she comes to teach at Art From the Heart :-) I am going with my arty friend Sarah, and we are even staying over for 2 sleeps and making a mini-break of it! Can't wait! (Technically speaking we could drive home each day quite easily but where's the fun in that?!)
I wanted to have bigger circles on this page, because you may have realised by now that I LOVE circles and they often appear in my pages in one way or another. I didn't have a stencil with bigger circles so I made myself a disposable stencil from a scrap of card and a circle punch. Simples!
I sprayed directly through the holes to get this effect:
And then quickly flipped it over to get the negative:
And this is how it looks next to the previous page I did. I love to see such different pages next to each other!
Now, lookie what arrived for me in the post today. Don't you just love it when a scrumptious little gift arrives for you in the post?! I was lucky enough to win these as blog candy on Paper Pumpkin's blog. Paper Pumpkin aka Katherine is a fellow compulsive journaler, go check out her blog! These earrings are from her daughter's Etsy. Have a look - there's some lovely lovely things there.
Thanks so much Katherine, and thanks so much Mia Michelle :-)
Byeee for now .........
Fab page again. I was wondering how you made such perfect circles using spray ink!! I've been admiring Dina's work lately and would love to have the chance to do the workshops - lucky you xxx

Fab page and fantastic colours you have managed here ! Love your spraying techniques !
ReplyDeleteSuper page and such brilliant colours. Loving your spraying techniques !
ReplyDeleteYour page is lovely and the colours are so vibrant. Must try to persuade Dyan to let me have them wholesale as I think they would go down really well here.
ReplyDeleteThe writing on the page may be very Dina Wakley but the page is still very much a Kate Crane original.
Looking forward to seeing you between 14th and 28th - hopefully we can arrange some playtime.
xx
I'm jealous of your Dina playtime. Have fun!

ReplyDeleteI love your circles too. + the way you describe how you create your pages. I wouldn't know what to do with all of the fancy supplies! Once again, love your style.

ReplyDeleteKate - you must be nearly at the end of your first batch of inks - I know I am and you got your's before I did LOL. (If it stand still long enough - it gets sprayed) Fabby page again (as per) and lucky you those earings are gorgeous. Yet again I miss out on the Dina clas but hope you have lots of fun (sure you will)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as always Kathryn and fabulous colours
ReplyDeleteAnne xx
gorgeous, gorgeous pages Kate! You'll have a fabulous time with Sarah, it's so different when you're away for the 'weekend', you can carry on playing or talking 'art' stuff late into the evening. If you're staying in the premier inn (or travelodge, can't remember which it is) we snuck into the meeting room with very kind permission from the lady on the front desk, tell her you have homework to do!!
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous Kate, love them, especially the way you've placed the colours on the page. Yummy! Have a fabulous weekend, I'm very jealous :)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful work!!! I found you while blog hoping and am so glad that I did - your art and the colors you use are just stunning. Thank you for the inspiration, Kristin xo
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!! Your pages are so inspirational.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous - how much do I want to go on a course with a buddy to laugh with ... Bah Humbug!

Once again...awesome!
ReplyDeleteI can't say enough how much I love your journal pages. Thank you for showing photos of the actual items you use to create them. I want to get spray bottles and some little round stencils I just love the look.
ReplyDeleteI love all your helpful hints Kate - thanks.
