But today I have had a day off. Ahhhhh! Peace and quiet :-) I managed to clear a backlog of work and then I GOT MY PAINTS OUT! Yayy! Actually what I created in my A5 Moleskine is a slightly jumbled - a bit like me right now!
It's got lots of layers. I started by gluing a dress pattern on the page (you can see it peeking through slightly), then painted a layer, masked a heart shape with a scrap of paper and painted some more, added gesso to tone it down a bit, then stenciled, added some neocolors, stamped with bottle lids, stamped with rubber stamps, doodled, added papers and images, and finally some words. I shall also journal within the heart shape I think. So, it's very jumbled but it felt good :-)
Have a good weekend. Byeeeeeeeeeee
Oh I do like this one Kate but then I am a sucker for hearts... love the bright colours...xoox
ReplyDeleteKate, your painted, gessoed, stamped, stenciled, crayoned and doodled background is awesome! The more layers the merrier. I'm glad you had an opportunity to enjoy a bit of creative time! Have a super weekend! Hugs, Terri xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt looks great...love all the layers. I'm obviously in need of some rest cos I read it as "I GOT MY PANTS OUT!" Paints made much more sense but it certainly woke me up...off to play with my pants now. xx
ReplyDeleteI like this a lot Kate. Some of my fav colors and you know I love hearts.
ReplyDeleteOh, Kate what an inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteGreat colours!!! And wonderful page, which resonated today as I read my friend's daughter's school's ofsted report (she wanted it interpreting lol ie the important bits read out) and they got satisfactory, which they weren't happy with!! I think I prefer the word 'average' to 'satisfactory', or even 'fine' would be better!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend, glad you got time to escape into your art journal today :)
I love it! Your pages so inspiring. And I'm a sucker for hearts too. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are my favorite colors, there is nothing like creating to calm the savage beast. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful page, love all the layers!!
ReplyDeleteKate this is first class I just love it. Layers layers and layers that's what we learnt in Dina's tutorial which you missed, it's just great to play with all these layers isn't it.

I think you are suffering from OSTED fallout - where satisfactory is always second best, whereas your art work is beyond judgement and completely liberating. A great page and I do hope you managed to get some more time to free your head over the weekend.
ReplyDelete(By the way I also thought you had really lost it and got your pants out:) )
beautiful!!! i love all the layers and the colors.
ReplyDeleteIt's great...and I love the message...people pleaser....i used to be one of those! lol now I'm more balanced, ya, that's it!
ReplyDeletevery lovely...glad you relaxed with your paints..that's one of my favourite tried, tested and true methods of relaxation! it's cheap therapy too! haha

ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun playing with your pants tee hee!
Apparently there is a method to your wonderful madness!! I don't think it looks jumbled , although you may have felt that way...it looks just great!
ReplyDeleteWow the colours are fantastic, what a stunning page. Love all the layering and can see you really enjoyed doing it. xx
ReplyDeleteHope you are able to relax and unwind a bit this weekend, Kate.
ReplyDeleteThe bright colours are gorgeous and you are definitely much much more than satisfactory.
Really enjoyed your article in CS - part 3 journalling.
Remember BREATHE!!!
Love Sue xx
I can relate to that! If everyone is doing "best practice" does that mean best practice is just average?
ReplyDeleteI love this page Kate. Lots of interest and texture.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a day off!

This is gorgeous darling i love it, i had to read that second paragrath twice i thought you said ... 'I GOT MY PANTS OUT' HAHAHAHAHA i was going to say hehehehe
ReplyDeleteIs that a Paper Artsy stamp? I love that particular stamp, it's so clever. This page in your journal is awesome, I love it. I personally buy a lot of scrapbooking paper and not because I'm a scrapbooker, because I'm not, I just love all the beautiful papers and they are good for cards and projects. But when I look at work like yours where you are able to make the most amazing and beautiful background paper yourself, it really makes me realize that I should do that more often. I think when you build a piece of artwork like this page you did, from the ground up, that is the true artist in someone. When you use printed scrapbook paper in a lot of your projects like I do, I then think of myself when I do that as being creative but not truly artistic. Your work really inspires me, thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteLove the bright vibrant colours you have used and all those layers, fabulous.
ReplyDeleteKate this is such an awesome piece, glad you got out those paints.Life does get so crazy,we must have our art time to be happy.
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me greatly and love visiting you.
Enjoy the weekend. Big Hugs Laura. xoxx
