Playing with new goodies!

Yesterday was the first chance I have had to play with my new goodies from Carabelle Studio :-) I can't begin to tell you how exciting and fabulous it is to see your designs transformed into *real* items to play with!

I began with 'Over the Rainbow' on my Gel Press because I love printing and I also love how fast you can make backgrounds this way.

I enhanced the background with pencils and distress crayons to pick out some detail:

And then I added some of my 'Crayoned Elements'.

Of course, once the gel plate was out I couldn't resist trying my other new Art Printing designs .... !

So far these are a work in progress, but I am very pleased and happy with how clearly these print.

And I got some great mop-up prints too!

Bye for now ... I'm off to play a bit more .... If you need me, you'll find me in my little studio making a happy mess ;-)

Funky Doodles!

Oh yes! It's the time again ... time for another two-part video for the Gel Press 'print-to-project' series.

As a life-long doodler, it made total sense to me to doodle on the gel plate with paint pens, of which of course, I have quite a few ;-)

The Gel Press is AMAZING at releasing the media that you put on it, so it's ok if the design dries as you go along, you can take your time with this. And then add a couple of layers of paint and pull it all off. It a really fun way of making unique prints.

Hope you have fun with this one!

Here's a couple of progress shots ....

The second part of the video will be published on Saturday, so join me then for part 2 where I show you how I turn my prints into a dinky little journal...

Bye for now!

Messy art journaling!

Textures Printing by Birgit Koopsen for Carabelle Studio

Sometimes I just want to be messy. It's true. It's very liberating to just start 'scrubbing' paint on a page and letting it all wander.

I hand drew a few whimsical / primitive style houses using the fabulous Stabilo All pencil.

And then I used some scrap of gel printed papers to add collage elements. You might recognise some Art Texture Printing Plates in there  by Carabelle Studios. Every bit of my Gel Printed papers gets used ... eventually ;-)

Coming soon!

Coming soon! 12th April to be precise :-)

Also coming soon .... more stamps and stencils so watch the space !

Flutterby butterfly.

Ooooh I got myself the new Dina Wakley journal :-) I really like it! It's small - only 6 x 6", and white, and full of lovely quality thick cotton rag paper. I think because the whole journal is white, even the cover, it encouraged me to be much lighter with the paint and colour than I usually am.

I added some of the new Transparent Wings by Tim Holtz. And by the way, if you drop these on the floor you won't be able to see them to pick them up. (Ask me how I know?)

I used my watercolours to add some colour swatches. I LOVE this! I think I'll be doing this again.

Bye for now!
